Odilo Globočnik, the evil leader of the Operation.

Odilo Globočnik, "Fig. 5," does not share the same negative fame as other renowned Nazi’s. However, he was certainly one of the most evil, if not the most. He leaded Operation Reinhard, and during the Final Solution, he had a “central administrative and coordinating role.” [(10) Page. 159] “To carry out the mass murder of an estimated two million Jews, Globocnik created a Department on his staff for Operation Reinhard.” (7) He and his staff killed approximately 1.7M victims in a little less than two years (7). Furthermore, there still are rumors that he may be responsible for coming up with the “final solution.”

He was very powerful, and responded directly to Hitler, “What emerges is that Globocnik was under direct orders not merely from Himmler, but from the Reich’s top National Socialist, an Austrian, Adolf Hitler, with whom Globočnik had enjoyed personal contact in the lead up to their other great first historic mission involving Austria, the Anschluss.” [(10) Page. 166] Despite his evil role during the Holocaust, his name is not as easy to cross with as other notorious Nazi's. He was ultimately the commandant of the deadliest phase of the Holocaust, and he is responsible for killing almost two million people.
